Sitting on the front porch, dreaming about going away... Of driving down the highway, knowing I've embraced the day... Chorus: 'Cause lately, I've fallen in a pattern Lately, the pattern's all I see I've had dreams, but I'm too tired to reach for them Maybe there's a new place for me So I get into my car, and drive northbound Hoping I'll see something new on this side of town Chorus: 'Cause lately, I've fallen in a pattern Lately, the pattern's all I see I've had dreams, but I'm too tired to reach for them Maybe there's a new place for me There's a path to hike, a coffee to drink And the sounds of the lake lull me to sleep Chorus: 'Cause lately, I've fallen in a pattern Lately, the pattern's all I see I've had dreams, but I'm too tired to reach for them Maybe there's a new place for me And driving back home feels like relief Greeted by the cats and our worn out settee, Hoping that tonight home is where I'll be Chorus: 'Cause lately, I've fallen in a pattern Lately, the pattern's all I see I've had dreams, but I'm too tired to reach for them Maybe there's a new place for me

Let's shelter in place for as long as we can I'll stop touching my face if you keep washing your hands and we'll be back together once they've lifted the ban on going out to dinner and our Saturday plans I'll stop hoarding all the tissues just to dry up my tears We've enough TP to last for 17 years, And the thought of you, darling, will quiet my fears Should've bought cans of food instead of cases of beer Chorus: So keep a six-foot distance around my heart I'm feeling socially distance 'cause we must be apart I'm sending all my love and that's the only thing I'll give to you Gotta cancel our plans, got the quarantine blues I'll keep working on my hobbies, oh the time it'll fly, Maybe I could write an opera, make the audience cry, become a master painter, watching oil paint dry but I'll probably stick to nothing, now that I could try Books on the floor with the cats in the sun they're basking in the stress of work not getting done And taking frequent naps, they're not the only ones Doing absolutely nothing is my idea of fun Chorus: So keep a six-foot distance around my heart I'm feeling socially distance 'cause we must be apart I'm sending all my love and that's the only thing I'll give to you Gotta cancel our plans, got the quarantine blues Bridge: Now I'm not complaining, I've got my life and my health And your love and music are a bounty of wealth And I hope you take comfort with supplies on the shelf And I hope you take time to take care of yourself Chorus: So keep a six-foot distance around my heart I'm feeling socially distance 'cause we must be apart I'm sending all my love and that's the only thing I'll give to you Gotta cancel our plans, got the quarantine blues

Lady 03:05
Lady, Oh Lady won't you come to me Lady, Oh Lady won't you come to me You've been so many places and done so many things so dip your toes in this water and dance awhile with me Lady, Oh Lady, if you come to me you'll be free Lady, Oh Lady, won't you come to me Your winds are crisp and cold Your stars are clear and bold Your currents swerve, your moods change The rocks around me tell stories of old trees, Old creatures, old friends Lady, Oh Lady won't you come to me Lady, Oh Lady won't you come to me No matter how long your journey will be It will end here with me.

Number 5 03:18
Den is building in the toolshed, Dot is knittin' in the den, Picks up her Gamegear plays a bit of Sonic, starts knittin' again Washing hangin' on the clothesline Down by the apple tree finished with his project, Den leaves his bench just as neat as can be It might be a model airplane Could be workin' on the lathe, Making trinkets for the grandkids, That's how he spends his days Dot's still knotting in the front room, Den's still chatting in the yard "Don't know what she's making, but at the rate she's going it's a cover for the car." Chorus: Day in and day out, their routine would thrive Year in and year out Such was life at number 5, Such was life at number 5. There's the tiling in the hallway Snooker table past the door Rows of cassette tapes all in proper order from the ceiling to the floor Chorus: Day in and day out, their routine would thrive Year in and year out Such was life at number 5, Such was life at number 5. See their picture in my office Smiling by the garden wall Only takes a moment For their voices to recall Chorus: Day in and day out, their routine would thrive Year in and year out Such was life at number 5, Such was life at number 5. Such was life at number 5 Such was life at number 5.

Looking over his shoulder Every step of the way He could hear their close pursuit As the wind grew colder they took all he knew. Beaten they left him broken At the side of the hill, he could hear their footsteps pass Lost and forsaken each breath felt his last Chorus: Your soul may be weary (your soul is weary) Your comfort is near (You're safe and you're near) Won't you lay down your burdens (Lay them down) Safe from anguish and fear (lost, now found) Every story is sacred (your story is sacred) May your path lead you home (your journey home) As you walk in the light (in gentle light) You are never alone (You are never alone) Two more came before him And averted their gaze for they did not want to see That he was one of their kin, and desperate in need And as those neighbors departed More footsteps did appear on the road to Jericho A soul open-hearted was moved by his woe Chorus: Your soul may be weary (your soul is weary) Your comfort is near (You're safe and you're near) Won't you lay down your burdens (Lay them down) Safe from anguish and fear (lost, now found) Every story is sacred (your story is sacred) May your path lead you home (your journey home) As you walk in the light (in gentle light) You are never alone (You are never alone) And in their world, so full of hatred, They fought and died upon the sword Preaching fear, their teacher said Was the surest way to please the Lord But as his foe lay sick and wounded, he chose to stay there by his side, Tired of mind and tired of body And tired of trying to fight. Chorus: Your soul may be weary (your soul is weary) Your comfort is near (You're safe and you're near) Won't you lay down your burdens (Lay them down) Safe from anguish and fear (lost, now found) Every story is sacred (your story is sacred) May your path lead you home (your journey home) As you walk in the light (in gentle light) You are never alone (You are never alone)

Rain Falls 04:00
Rain falls I think I hear its distant laughter Rain falls Gently dancing through the leaves Rain falls Like tiny footsteps on the rafters Rain falls As the sky appears to grieve Rain falls Ripples on a clouded sea Rain falls Pinholes on a sandy shore Rain falls The rivers seem to call to me Rain falls And when it ends I’ll pray for more Chorus: Please fill my cup (please fill it) In the midst of joy and sorrow And we’ll drink to health and home (a toast to) With love to share and time to borrow Rain falls I feel its warmth in my eyes Rain falls Cool caress upon my skin Rain falls The iris of the soulful skies Rain falls Reveals the rain contained within Rain falls Dusty roads bathed in water Rain falls Somber buildings bathed in light Rain falls And we the grateful sons and daughters Rain falls Praise the rain that falls tonight Chorus: Please fill my cup (please fill it) In the midst of joy and sorrow And we’ll drink to health and home (a toast to) With love to share and time to borrow Sing of life renewed (yes we will) Sing in times of grief and pain I will sing a verse for you (yes we will) Sing a verse to thank the rain

Forever 04:31
At night I lay awake from the aching in my side The aching in my heart and the aching of my pride When I give into the burdens that’s when I’ll close my eyes And hand them off to Sleep, they will abide At night I walk the streets and the sidewalks cased in ice Too numb to care but so aware of the people passing by Afraid that if raise my gaze to meet their wandering eyes They’ll offer up their unwanted advice So how did we get here? What are we to do? I’m wearing out from Wondering how the hell do I get through... How did we get here? What are we to do To stop ourselves from tearing down The home I thought we knew? At night I want to fill the air with stories with my friends Hear of life from another side so I can pretend The pieces of my person will meet a peaceful end I hold them in my life to help me mend So how did we get here? What are we to do? I’m wearing down from Wondering how the hell do I get through... How did we get here? What are we to do To stop ourselves from tearing down The home I thought we knew? At night I conjure up a place I’m hopeful we can find A place where pain rolls off our backs and words are mostly kind The pieces of this family made whole again with time So I’m holding to this place within my mind I’ll keep holding out forever in my mind

Home 03:46
I was born in the mountains, Colorado, my first home But now those memories are hazy, For Minnesota drew me near. A rocky move when I turned 5 years old, So many changes I've endured Searching for the truth, to find where I belong But honey, I know that it is with you. Chorus: I think we all are searching for our home, They say that faith is a journey, Oh the more I learn, the less I know So take my hand and walk me home. Wisconsin held me in my studies. Music always sheltered me. Far too serious for a young girl, But your love and humor broke me free. Kentucky was a time of friendship, A time of growth and clarity A time to practice trust and open my heart To kindness and generosity Chorus: I think we all are searching for our home, They say that faith is a journey, Oh the more I learn, the less I know So take my hand and walk me home. We tried our hardest out in Boston, hung local art upon the wall. We found a peace we thought we lost And we said our vows and left next Fall.. To go in search to find our home, The place where we feel we finally belong Oh they say that faith is a journey So please, my love, even through this fog Take my hand and walk me home, Please take my hand and walk me home.

Keeping the time with the shuffle of the rhythm of the Fiddler’s string Finding the key in the constant of the rolling of the Banjo’s ring Catching the glimpse of the faces of the people in the First three rows Why they’re not moving as we’re playing and we’re grooving, Only heaven knows.. Chorus: Cause when did this world decide To put stock in a great divide Between listeners and dancing feet The music’s in the middle where we meet Feeling the time and the drive of the rhythm of the Bass’s strings The guitar keeps me moving ever forward to the moment when I start to sing Searching for joy, and to make a connection, Wanting more And seeing my songs on the lips of another, That’s what I live for. Chorus: When did our world decide To put stock in a great divide Between strangers and singing sweet The music’s in the middle where we meet. Give me the chance just to listen to you Maybe in time we’ll agree Help me to see from your point of view Maybe you’re not that different from me… Chorus: When did our world decide To put stock in a great divide Between neighbors across the street The music’s in the middle where we meet

Josie 02:06
Her eyes are shining, shining like the sun rise, My spirit's rising, rising like the sun, Her smile is calling, calling 'cross the Valley And I will follow until my race is run. Chorus: For Josie, Josie Darling Josephine, Josie, Josie, Darling Josephine Her laugh like music playing in the evening, Her peaceful joy rests on my weary mind When her tears fall cloudy, and I can't see the sunrise, Rain will bring new joys for her to find Chorus: For Josie, Josie Darling Josephine, Josie, Josie, Darling Josephine

The Seasons 05:06
Winter clothed in silken veil Icy lips and skin so pale In her arms of numbing frost Recalling days of lover's lost Let her go, let her go. Spring she gently kissed your cheek Whispered words few dare to speak And in her arms of fragrant grass She felt a love too young to last Let her go, let her go Let her go, let her go. ooh, ah, mm Summer danced and drew you near She sang the songs you long to hear And in her arms your passion burned But the flames grew dim as night returned Let her go, let her go. Let her go, let her go. ooh, ah, mm Golden embers glow with feelings of despair Your colors start to show, Your breath hangs in the air Autumn laughed and gently sighed She felt in you she could confide But in her arms you felt the cold Of lovers lost and heartache old. Let her go, let her go. Let her go, let her go. ooh, ahh, mm

Love of Mine 02:51
Love of mine, Let's take the lead from your advice And take our time We'll tread the path that lies ahead, We'll be just fine, Oh love of mine you'll see. A fear of life, A fear of death and all it brings What's left behind, Of promises and Worldly things, we'll be just fine Oh life of mine, you'll see. Chorus: Keep us safe and keep us close Keep us loved and calm. A day of rest, The chorus of the morning sings from hidden nests Before taking flight on gentle wings, We'll be just fine, oh friends of mine, you'll see Chorus: Keep us safe and keep us close Keep us loved and calm. Love of mine, Let's take the lead from your advice And take our time We'll tread the path that lies ahead, We'll be just fine, Oh love of mine you'll see.

Newborn Nights The sun begins to set in the clear December sky Our son begins to flirt with hopes of sleep and restful nights Even if the silence breaks with the sound of Aly’s cries I know that in the morning hours a smile will still arise We are set to make it through our new bedtime regime Our son is set to drift into a night of novel dreams Even if the books demand a more structured routine I know that we will always find the way that’s in between Chorus: Newborn nights, matchbox cars Sound machines for infant dreams beneath ceiling stars Fairy lights with creaking floors Learning how to hear him breathe through bedroom doors Half asleep, not quite awake I’ll hold onto this moment for my sake We begin to feel the morning light slip through the blinds Our son begins to rub the sleepy cobwebs from his eyes Even if the days all seem to blur within my mind I know that each contains a simple joy for us to find Chorus: Newborn nights, matchbox cars Sound machines for infant dreams ‘neath ceiling stars Fairy lights with creaking floors Learning how to feel him breathe through bedroom doors Half asleep, not quite awake I’ll hold on to this moment for my sake Chorus: Newborn nights, matchbox cars Sound machines for infant dreams beneath ceiling stars Fairy lights with creaking floors Learning how to feel him breathe through bedroom doors Half asleep, not quite awake I’ll hold onto this moment…

about

“The new record from the Boston Imposters is a great listen: Lovely duo vocal harmony (as always), a whole truckload of different stringed instruments and even some fabulous rhythmic clogging on some of the tracks. Who needs a drummer?”
-Mike Pengra, Host of Radio Heartland/The Current

The Boston Imposters are an acoustic songwriting folk duo based in Southeast Wisconsin. Davey Harrison, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, met Maire (pronounced like Mary) Clement, singer, songwriter and step-dancer, at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin for their undergraduate studies in classical singing. Their education continued, Davey at New England Conservatory in Contemporary Improvisation and Maire, at University of Louisville in Classical Voice. Their duo, The Boston Imposters was formed during their years living together in Boston, where try as they might to be east coasters, the Great Lakes finally pulled them back home to the Midwest where they promptly released their first eponymous album in 2020.

The Boston Imposters’ second album is titled Insiders. People often ask “Why are you The Boston Imposters?” Maire and Davey often feel like outsiders, but the new album is an invitation to welcome listeners into their musical community. It was serendipitous that they wrote most of these songs while being stuck inside during quarantine and with Maire being pregnant with their beautiful son Alasdair.

The eponymous first release from the Boston Imposters featured collaborations with many musical friends. By contrast, Insiders was recorded live as just the duo to capture the sound and feel of their performances.
