That's what somebody wrote to help me pass the time
On the bus today.

Don't know her name,
But the writing seemed to be familiar
She spoke to me and moved me just the same

The letters plain and sunlit
Through snow and salty fingerprints
She left her message on the window pane.

I found myself
questioning my place and seat
and burdened with the bags strewn at my feet.

I turned around
And met the sea of vacant stares
Bored passengers in dirty plastic chairs.

She caught my eye face lined with age
Small and pale, yet unafraid.
She met the day and moved on just the same.
